Mulder Shipyard purchases fourth facility in Enkhuizen

February 14, 2022

Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk-based Mulder Shipyard has kicked off 2022 with a major announcement: the purchase of their fourth facility in Enkhuizen, located in the north west of the Netherlands.

Originally founded in 1938 and having successfully delivered a worldwide fleet of more than 125 motor yachts to date, this investment by the family-run Dutch yacht builder further cements its reputation as a growing shipyard with a solid presence in the global superyacht world.

The new shipyard contains two hull construction sheds suitable for yachts of up to 50 metres, with a separate shed for interior construction and teak decks which Mulder will make use of in the years to come.

This in-depth investment will strengthen the position of Mulder Shipyard by optimising both delivery time and quality, whilst ensuring that it is not dependent on other parties. “This heavy-duty construction shed has historically facilitated the build of multiple yachts, including the 43-metre superyacht Latitude and 49-metre Nassima amongst other vessels. We have purchased the facilities, including the existing machinery and inventory, so we will be able to start up and be operational in no time,” says Mulder’s Commercial Director, Nick Mulder.

The shipyard and its employees will be managed by Jacco Klein, who brings extensive experience, ambition and craftsmanship to the role, having previously worked as technical director of the facility.

Klein comments: “I previously built the hulls of the 29-metre Firefly and the 30-metre Mahalo for Mulder and have known Dick and Nick Mulder for more than 20 years. I am very excited for the future and feel proud to be working at this fantastic facility once again!”

Located in the historic harbour town of Enkhuizen – which received its city rights in 1355 and was amongst the most prosperous Dutch cities in the 17th century – the town is an excellent location for a hull construction yard.

Thanks to its position bordering the Marker- and Ijsselmeer and its convenient connection to both the North Sea and inland waters, vessels can be transported promptly to the Mulder yards in Zoeterwoude and Voorschoten for further and final construction phases.
